Introduction to Fabric Printing

Screen 1.png

Learn how to screen-print floral designs onto fabric in a fun and busy evening at the gorgeous Paxton Centre art space. The aim of the workshop is to make fabric printing accessible to everyone, giving you the skills needed to print your own fabric, gifts and cards at home with minimal equipment needs. With a range of floral & botanical templates to work from, you’ll leave the evening with 2 pieces of printed fabric as well as a tote bag or tea towel with your design.

During this workshop you will:
-Understand how screen-printing works
-Make your own stencil using floral templates provided (or any other design if florals aren't your thing!)
-Prepare the screen and fabric for printing
-Print 2 pieces of fabric (40x50cm) the basic principles of screen-printing, using a 1-colour design and an A5 size printing screen. Screen-printing normally requires specialist equipment that can be quite bulky and pricey, needing a lot of space to use and store. With the methods I teach, using small screens and paper stencils, the technique is easy to recreate on a kitchen table, using equipment that is inexpensive and easy to store.
-Print a tote bag or tea towel
-Learn all the basics to be able to screen print at home

Fancy a follow on from this evening workshop? Check out the Saturday afternoon workshops, where you'll have the opportunity to print with more design elements in multiple colorist equipment that can be quite bulky and pricey, needing a lot of space to use and store. With the methods I teach, using small screens and paper stencils, the technique is easy to recreate on a kitchen table, using equipment that is inexpensive and easy to store.

Want to continue printing at home? Take home an equipment pack with everything you need for only £25. You can add this to your ticket when purchasing online, or purchase at the workshop
