November Artist Launch Night

The month of November brings six new artists and designers to the Paxton Centre Gallery. Do come and meet the makers who will be exhibiting and selling their diverse Art works throughout the month.

Bar and café open from 7pm.

Gerri Keniger - Fine Artist

"Art has been my passion for as long as I've been able to use a pencil. It was my favourite subject at school and was my go-to pastime whenever I needed to relax. The fact that I was born into an artistic family and lived a slightly hippy childhood in a fairy-tale house only added to my creative intuition.

I started out selling work as a self-taught artist, then combined this path with my second love - theatre - and trained as a set designer. This equipped me with the skills to work in film, TV and UK theatrical shows for over 20 years."

Art4space - Mosiac birds

"Art4Space was formed by a group of three artists and teachers, Julie Norburn, Elinor Seath and Danielle Lees-Smith.The group identified the need to extend the use of community arts to address social, educational and health issues.

Art4Space began in 1999 when the three partners brought their skills and knowledge together to work with a school in Kingston on a collaborative art project. They ran participatory workshops for the pupils creating mosaics and painted murals for their playground. The success of this project achieved a grant from the Prince’s Trust to help with business start-up costs."

Bryony Moss - Illustration

"I'm a London based illustrator from Northumberland. I create bright and playful illustrations that celebrate the small but gorgeous moments of everyday life.

Alongside working with clients such as Harris + Hoole and Nakd I design illustrated ranges of stationery and giftware which are made in the UK. My products are made in small batches in the UK, I take pride in using responsibly sourced materials that have a luxurious quality."

Lily Hornsbury - Designer

"I am a multidisciplinary designer with a love for craft and painting. My practice focuses on making art and objects that showcase various projects with a strong focus on surface design.

I am drawn to investigating formal elements in my work such as line, shape, pattern, and colour. I also particularly love cross-referencing visual elements from both 2D and 3D processes I investigate.

My degree is in Product and Furniture Design from the Chelsea College of Arts, University of Arts London, and I'm based in South London."

Caron Clarke - Fine Artist

"Caron is a storyteller and her work is both a precise response to her chosen subject matter and rich in its imagination and invention. In the 2020 portrait of the model and actor Rick Mora we see these two elements brought together beautifully.

The sharp definition of his muscles, the folds of his jeans, and the reflection of light on his leather shoes are a precise and analytical response to her subject. The setting Clarke has created for him, in its pattern and abstraction, suggests both symbol and mystery. She has a deft touch, modulating tone and light with nuance and control."

Scene in LDN - Illustration

"Celebrate your neighbourhood with location prints by London artist, Samantha Warren. Beautiful illustrations of the local area including Crystal Palace and Penge and many other South London locations."

Silvio Diego - organic abstract and wooden sculptures:

“Born in South America from Spanish and Italian descent, Silvio is a Crystal Palace based Artist who has been creating and selling sculptures for over 20 years. Silvio likes to explore the subject of dreams through his ‘Dreamers’ project, but also abstract organic clay and wood sculptures. Silvio’s abstract sculptures are meant to provoke, and make people debate what they represent, often during this process more is revealed about the spectator than the artist’s intention”.

Anais Gazerian - Ceramics

"I’ve always been passionate by crafts and hand works. Since my youngest years, my mother always taught me to draw, sew, knit, embroider, etc. She is herself a sewer, and she has always inspired me.

I started taking pottery courses as a hobby, and quickly realised how versatile this art is. Working with clay was more satisfying to me than working with metals. I enjoyed the fact that you can always start again from the beginning, and there are no limits on creativity and imagination.

I started going to pottery classes at The Kiln Rooms (Peckham) 2 years ago, and then I decided to become a member in their studio. Meeting other autodidact potters like me and professionals makes me improve day by day, and makes me want to keep learning new techniques and experimenting new styles".

Hope to see you there!
