Eclectics - The Nunhead Folk Circle

Join us for our first ‘eclectic’ gig of 2025 and a first folk theme too.

We warmly welcome The Nunhead folk circle who are are a unique group of four musicians, Matt, Mike, Willard and Datsun who live around SE 15 and play an original style of music and song. The two part nature of many of their songs is an obvious link to Congolese Jazz music but there are strands of influence from American Country, Latin America and English Folk and Pop music

The set up of instruments is fairly standard with Drums, Double Bass or Bass Guitar, Lead Guitar, and Rhythm Guitar. Then they throw in a few other instruments like Melodeon, Tambouritsa, Charanga, Favella, Ukulele, Mouth Organ, that each add flavour to their sound and keep the show interesting. Datsun, Matt and Mike all contribute to the vocal arrangements and have fun with the different rhythms which make the music fun to dance and sing along to.

Free entry with optional donations towards the musicians.
