Life Drawing - Dinosaurs- Seeing Two Ways

An evening of artistic engagement with Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins iconic sculptures from 3D scans.

Join us for an evening of seeing and visioning some Waterhouse Hawkins animal sculptures in two ways that are more complementary than you might think.

Rhys Griffin, digital animator, will explain how the thousands of layered images in photogrammetry give 3D digital form to the CP Dinosaurs. His work has given us rotatable images with incredible detail, unexpected views, changeable light and texture.

Emma Jude, artist and geologist, will guide a 'life' drawing class using the almost hypereality of the projected 3D images as the artists' models for interpretive sketches. Her aim is to free you from standard representative illustration, encouraging playful, expressive mark making and changing how you see by fracturing and layering the objects.

Both Emma and Rhys have extensive arts engagement and teaching experience. The workshop will include short to long poses and is suitable for adults wanting to explore their artistic techniques. (This is not a class for children.)

Materials are available - charcoal, coloured pencils, chalk pastels and paper - but feel free to bring your own.

Cafe & bar on site from 6.30pm - arrive early to set up, fuel up and relax.

Cancellations only until 48 hours before event.
