Step away from your digital distractions and enter the magical, mindful world of resin. In this class at south east London's Paxton Centre you will create two pieces of your very own art homeware under the guidance of resinista Unusual Girl.
During the workshop she will lead you through the utterly absorbing process of mixing, pigmenting and pouring resin. You'll get everything you need to make a placemat and coaster set, the perfect introduction to using resin to create unique art for your home. Every colour imaginable, including iridescent, metallic and glitter pigments, will be at your disposal.
Making resin art is a relaxing, uplifting creative activity with fantastic results even for beginners. It can also be a little intimidating to start as there are so many different materials, types of resin...and quite a bit of mess! Which is why Unusual Girl is here to give you the benefit of her years of experience and free reign to experiment :)
What you'll get:
Materials and guidance to create one placemat and coaster set using silicone moulds.
Introduction to the preparation of resin and pigmenting.
Every colour imaginable, including iridescent, metallic and glitter pigments, will be at your disposal.
Aprons and gloves will be provided but please dress for mess from top to toe.
Tickets are non-refundable. However, if the event sells out a waiting list will operate so if you give enough notice your place could be offered to someone else.
Covid-19 measures
The Paxton Centre is a Covid-safe venue with ventilation from open windows.
Numbers are limited to 10 spaces, with two people sharing a table.
Participants will be asked to wear masks for the class unless the government guidance changes.
Postage and collection of work
Please note you will not take your work home on the day as resin is liquid when you pour it and it takes about a day to harden ('cure').
Artworks will be ready to collect from the Paxton Centre from Tuesday onwards.
Alternatively buy an additional 'Postage of work ONLY' ticket if you wish your items to be posted to you at the end of the week (by which point they will be cured enough to be packed safely).
